Key Stage 3

The pupils at Weobley High School have one lesson of ICT per week in which they follow the Key Stage 3 National Curriculum of study.  The curriculum is made up of a series of units of which they are assessed every half-term in the form of an end of topic test and an overall level.  Units of study include spreadsheets, e-safety, databases and creating a website.

Key Stage 4 (Core)

For the students of Weobley High School, Key Stage 4 begins in Year 9 where the students begin their DiDA Unit 1 qualification. This project-based qualification allows the students to obtain a GCSE equivalent grade at the end of year 9.  When the pupils finish in Year 9, they then get a choice of studying ICT as an option in Years 10 and 11.
During the two lessons core ICT per week in Year 10, the students complete DiDA Unit 2; this is a Multimedia unit which involves designing and creating a digital storybook for young children.  The book must be brought to life using software and techniques such as Crazy Talks, Stop-Motion and Flash.  If pupils do not decide to follow ICT as a option, they still have an opportunity to achieve two GCSE equivalent grades.

Key Stage 4 (Option)

Here at Weobley, we are one of few schools across Britain that successfully deliver the DIDA Unit 5 Games Authoring unit.  This new and exciting unit of work involves the students using MissionMaker to design and create their own game.
The other unit of study is Computer Graphics in which students use programs such Photoshop, Fireworks and Google Sketchup to design and create graphic products.
